He married Helen L. Rohwer on June 17, 1925 in Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska. Helen was born May 29, 1899 in Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska. Helen is the daughter of George Rohwer and Katie Beckman.

DR. E. T. JIPP DIED HERE SATURDAY Blair Dentist for 49 Years. Filled Many Civic Posts.

Dr. Edwin T. Jipp, long-time Blair dentist, died at Memorial Community Hospital last Saturday following a lingering illness. He had been a dentist here for forty years during which time he took an active interest in a great many community activities. Dr. Jipp was born January 21, 1899 at Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska, the son of Henry and Carrie Jipp who were pioneer residents of the county. He died at the age of 68 years, one month, 25 days.

His boyhood days were spent at Fort Calhoun but he went to Omaha as a young man where he graduated from Creighton Prep. and then from the school of Dentistry at Creighton University. His first dental practice was at Dannebrog, Nebr. From there he moved to Blair, Nebraska in March of 1927. He practiced Dentistry here until 1965.

He was married to Miss Helen Rohwer on June 17, 1925 and to this union was born one son. Edwin T., Jr. and one daughter, Margaret. Among his many interests were first his friends and his community but his lifelong work was in dentistry. He presented numerous clinics at dental conventions in neighboring states and on two occassions presented clinics at the convention of the American Dental Association. He was an officer and past president of the Tri-county Dental Association. He was a member of the 1948 Blair Park Board which enlarged the City Park and supervised the planting of 1700 tress and shrubs by children of the Blair City Schools.

As a member of one of the pioneer families of Washington County, he was very interested in local history and was president of the Washington County Historical Society and a director oftlie Fort Atkinson Foundation. In these capacities he served as chairman of the committee that sponsored the Fort Atkinson Days Celebration at Ft. Calhoun in 1962. A past president of the Blair Rotary Club. he was responsible during his membership in that organization for setting up an early soil testing service for the farmers in the county.

He joined the Congregational Church in 1928 and was an active member until his death, serving variously as chairman of the Board of Trustees. Deacon. Deacon Emeritus, and in his last years was tlie Treasurer. He has had a lifelong interest in music and was a member in many local music organizations throughout his life. The Mutual Concert Society was one of his many activities along this line. He directed the hight school band at Fort Calhoun for a number of years and was instrumental in the drive that produced uniforms for the Blair High School Band in 1949.

His interest in young people, led him to give continued support to the Boy Scouts. He was on the sponsoring committee and was an adult leader in troop No. 143 for a number of years. During his tenure on tlic Board of Public Works, from 1958 until his death, several large improvements were made to the city utilities.

Services for Captian Oscar F. McLaughlin, Air Services, Signal Reserve Corps, who died Sunday, March 9, at San Diego, will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 p. m. at the Mottell parlors under the American Legion's auspices

Captain McLaughlin served in the regular army prior to the World war. He was a licensed balloon pilot and aero observer. The decedent was an active member of the Association of the Army of the United States, Los Angeles sector.

Dr. Perry G. M. Austin, rector of St. Luke's and chaplain of the local post. will officiate. A firing squad and a buglar from Fort MacArthur will represent the army.

She married Willis G. Maahs on September 13, 1932 in Los Angeles, California. Willis was born October 9, 1907 in Merrill, Wisconsin. Willis died June 24, 1948 in Los Angeles, California at 40 years of age

SANTEE, CA - Ernest A. Jipp, 86, formerly of Fort Calhoun, died June 14, 2005. His body was cremated and memorial services were held. Ernest A. Jipp was born Dec. 19, 1918, in Fort Calhoun to Fred and Marie (Schumacher) Jipp.

In July 1941, he enlisted in the US Army Air Force and served until 1945. On Jan. 1, 1944, he married Lillian Hansen of rural Blair. The couple had three daughters He married Lillian Hansen On January 1, 1944 in Blair, Nebraska.

Memorial services for George H. Jipp age 91, of Blair, will be held at 11:30AM Friday December 5, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Visitation will be held at the Church beginning at 10:30AM on Friday. Private inurnment will be at a later date in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery. Mr. Jipp died November 27 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

George H. Jipp, the youngest of 13 children born to Fred and Marie (Schumacher) Jipp on November 6, 1923 in Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother Christine, nine brothers, three sisters, and one great grandson. He graduated from Ft. Calhoun in 1942. George entered the United States Army Infantry in January of 1944 and served in France and was wounded in August of 1944. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star and was honorably discharged from the Army in September of 1945. On May 7, 1949 George married Helen Burmeister of Ft. Calhoun.

George coached YMCA baseball for his boy’s teams and served in Boy Scouts in Omaha. He was a Legion Commander and worked at the Blair recycling center and served on several committees at First United Methodist Church in Blair. He was employed with Conservative Savings Bank in Omaha for 38 years. Mr. Jipp is survived by his wife Helen Jipp of Blair, 3 sons and families; Steven and Gayle Omaha, Keith and Lowin Hawkins of Logan, IA, Phil and Jenifer Starks of Omaha, four grandchildren, Andy Jipp and wife Kim of Omaha, Nicole and husband Lucas Rickersen of Dewitt, IA, Amy and husband Tom Schwertley of Logan, IA, Doug Jipp and wife Kendra of Logan and 8 great grandchildren, step sister Helen Gililand, sisters in law, Gertrude Jipp and Lona Burmeister.

Memorials may be directed to the Blair Police Department, Blair Rescue Squad or the Youth of First United Methodist Church.
