15. Frederick Charles J.4 Gottsch (Catherina Carolina3 Jansen, Detlef Friedrich2, Jochim1) was born in Bennington, Nebraska October 25, 1869. Frederick died June 15, 1935 in Omaha, Nebraska, at 65 years of age. His body was interred June 18, 1935 in Bennington, Nebraska.

Frederick Charles J. married Emma Adele Göttsch in Omaha, Nebraska, June 25, 1894. Emma was born in Fahren, Holstein, Prussia September 5, 1867. Emma died August 2, 1953 in Omaha, Nebraska, at 85 years of age. Her body was interred August 4, 1953 in Bennington, Nebraska.

Mrs. Adele Gottsch

Mrs. Adele Gottsch passed away at the Lutheran Home in Omaha August 2, 1953. She was born in Schleswig Holstein, Germany, September 5, 1867. She had reached the age of 85 years, 10 months and 27 days. The deceased married Fred Gottsch June 25, 1894, and resided in the Bennington community until a few years ago.

Mrs. Gottsch came with her parents from Germany in 1890. Surviving are one son, William of Omaha, two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; a brother Emil Gottsch, Bennington, and sister Mrs. Theresa Witt of Wheatland, Wyoming.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 4, at 2 p.m. from the Hadan Mortuary, Bennington. Rev. R. Shirck was in charge of services. Interment ws in the German Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wilfred Gottsch, Emil Gottsch, George Misfeldt, Walter Winterburn, Glen Gottsch, and Louie Gottsch.

Note: Frederick Charles Gottsch spend his life as a carpenter in Bennington, Ne. In June of 1935 he contracted and died from influenza on June 15th. Note: Frederick and Emma Adele were second generation cousins. It is felt because they were cousins, that was the cause of their daughters, Anna's and Wilhelmina's disabilities.

Benhart Henry married Helene Albertina Göttsch in Bennington, Nebraska, January 31, 1895. Helene was born in Fahren, Holstein, Germany April 8, 1874. Helene died October 3, 1952 in Omaha, Nebraska, at 78 years of age. Her body was interred October 1952 in Bennington, Nebraska.

"Helene Gottsch"

Helene Gottsch, Washington, Nebr., age 78, passed away on October 3, 1952, at an Omaha hospital.

She was born in Germany on April 8, 1874, and at the age of 16 came to this country with her family and settled first at Davenport, Iowa, an later on they moved to Bennington.

She was married to Benhart Gottsch on January 31, 1895. To this union nine children were born. She and her husband moved to their present home as bride and groom 57 years ago. They celebrated their Golden Wedding in 1945.

She was a very devoted mother, her one thought being for the comfort and safety of her children.

Her hobby was crocheting and knitting, and she made many beautiful and useful things for her friends and loved ones. Her hands were never idle and she kept up an active interest in all the current happenings until a few days before her parting.

She was a long-time member of the Royal Neighbors. She was baptized and confirmed in her faith as a child in Germany before coming to this country.

She is survived by her husband, Benhardt(sic); 5 sons, Arthur of Elkhorn, Charles and Glen of Bennington, Ben of Omaha, Harlan of Kennard, Nebr.; 4 daughters, Katherine of Bennington, Mabel and Bernita and Mrs. Roma Dresher of Omaha; 17 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs Therese Witt of Woodbridge, Cal., Mrs. Adele Gottsch of Omaha, brother Emil Gottsch of Bennington.

Services were held Monday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m., at the home. Interment was at German Cemetery.

The family requested in lieu of flowers, that donations be sent to Children's Memorial Hospital.

"BEN GOTTSCH PROMINENT FARMER, DIES"

Benhart Gottsch, well-known resident of Washington County, passed away last Saturday, October 25, following an illness of approximately two months. He was 78 years, 9 months of age at the time of his death. His death followed that of his wife by only twenty-two days. The deceased was born January 17th, 1874, on a farm in the south part of Washington County and he spent his entire life living within a mile of his birthplace.

He was united in marriage to Miss Helene Gottsch, January 31, 1895 and they moved immediately to the farm which they were to occupy for 57 years. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1945. To this union five sons and four daughters were born, all of whom survive. The are Arthur, of Elkhorn, Nebr., Charles, who farms near the home place, Glenn and Katherine, who are at home, Harlan, of Kennard; and Ben, Mabel, Bernita and Mrs. Roma Dresher, all of Omaha. Mr. Gottsch was a charter member of the old Hayes Cornet Band which was organized in 1888 and which developed quite a reputation in early days as a organization until it ceased to function. Later he took part in orchestras at Bennington and Washington until approximately 1912.

For almost thirty years he was an underwriter and adjuster in Washington and Douglas County for Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. He was a 50 year member of the Schleswig-Holstein Verein, a 16 year member of the B.P.S.B.V. and a long time member of the Modern Woodmen. He served on the Washington School Board for over thirty years. He was one of the organizers, as well as Secretary and Director of the Papio-Valley Drainage District of Washington and Douglas Counties. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Bennington.

Funeral services were held from the residence at 2 p.m. Tuesday with interment at the German Cemetery. Pallbearers were his grandsons and honorary pallbearers were William Schuldt, Louis Goedeker, Sam Holstein, Sam Cox, John Meeves and Knute Rasmussen.

His body was interred November 1983 in Bennington, Nebraska. He married Voneita Larsen. Voneita was born February 11, 1917. Voneita died September 3, 1987 in Colorado, at 70 years of age. Her body was interred September 1987 in Bennington, Nebraska.

Lena married Hans Hansen in Bennington, Nebraska, December 27, 1892. Hans was born May 15, 1866. Hans died November 28, 1917 in Bennington, Nebraska, at 51 years of age. His body was interred November 1917 in Bennington, Nebraska.

Note: Anna's husband, Harvey committed suicide. Her brother Chris moved in with her and helped raise her children. After all the children were grown and gone from the home, Chis developed cancer. To spare his sister from having to care for him, he also committed suicide.

She married Leonard Grant Nichols 1906. Leonard was born in Omaha, Nebraska June 14, 1885. Leonard was the son of John Wesley Nichols and Sarah Elizabeth Dearborn. Leonard died February 23, 1953 in Omaha, Nebraska, at 67 years of age.

He married Mildred Dresden West in Omaha, Nebraska, November 30, 1939. Mildred was born in Long Creek Township, Decatur, Iowa March 30, 1915. Mildred is the daughter of John West and Bertha E. Brammer. Her body was interred February 19, 1995 in Omaha, Nebraska.

She married Henry Theodore Paulsen on August 21, 1907 in Blair, Nebraska. Henry was born September 14, 1877 in Washington County, Nebraska. Henry was the son of Gustave Paulsen and Julia Anna Schneider. Henry died January 5, 1977 in Bennington, Nebraska at 99 years of age.
